Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Pick
Opening Line: Ohio State -6.5
Time: 8 PM EST Saturday September 28, 2013 on ABC
Wisconsin (3-1) got over their crushing loss a couple of weeks back because of a blown call against Arizona State with a blowout win last week and have opened as 7-point road underdogs facing 3rd ranked Ohio State (4-0). Buckeyes' QB Braxton Miller should get the start in this game coming back from injury, but it has not been an easy decision for head coach Urban Meyer, as backup Kenny Guiton has been on fire.
The run defense will be key in this Big 10 match up, as each team ranks in the top 6 in the nation in rushing yards per game.
In their last games Wisconsin beat Purdue 41-10 and Ohio State beat Florida A&M 75-0.
Wisconsin is 4-0 ATS with an Over/Under record of 2-2 and Ohio State is 3-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 3-1.
Last season Ohio State beat Wisconsin 21-14 in OT.
Miller is undefeated as a starter for Ohio State and he only played 1 full game this season before getting injured. However, that was a solid game where he passed for 178 yards with 2 TD and rushed for 77 yards. He has a decent WR corps led by Devin Smith (16 rec 281 yards 4 TD), but he may be a little rusty. Wisconsin has the nation's 19th ranked pass defense.
With the blowout win last week OSU RB Jordan Hall did not get many carries, but for the season he already has 422 yards with 8 TD. He and Miller gave the Buckeyes a great 1-2 punch out of the backfield and they will be tested in this game facing a Wisconsin run defense that ranks 6th in the country.
Wisconsin QB Joel Stave (761 yards 6 TD 3 INT) has not passed for over 200 yards in the last 2 games and in that span he has only 1 TD. Ohio State ranks 49th on pass defense and it is key that they keep WR Jared Abbrederis (23 rec 365 yards 3 TD) from making the big play down the field.
Ohio State's strength on defense is against the run ranking 9th in the nation. RB Melvin Gordon has rushed for at least 140 yards in all 4 of the Badgers' games and RB James White has rushed for over 100 yards in 3 of 4 games. The Buckeyes have not faced a great rushing team yet and that will change this Saturday.Betting Trends
