Washington was a 25-19 loser to Atlanta in OT last Sunday. They were driving for the winning score when QB Kirk Cousins had his pass intercepted and returned 59 yards for a score by CB Robert Alford, the same player who picked him off earlier in the game. Cousins finished 21-32 for 219 yards, a TD and the 2 picks. The ground game continued to be stalled as they managed only 51 yards on 24 carries. The pass defense was good, holding QB Matt Ryan to no TDs. They picked him off twice and sacked him 3 times. The run defense was not good, allowing 176 yards on 32 carries.
New York had their bye last week. They remain a game behind the Patriots in the loss column and will look to stay in contention with a win this week. The Redskins had played decent run defense before last week and they will see a lot of RB Chris Ivory this week. WR Brandon Marshall has a string of 2-straight 100-yard receiving games. The defense has been the big story as they have forced a league-high 13 TOs and they get DL Shelton Richardson back from suspension this week.

When healthy this offense has shone with impressive games against Miami and St. Louis to start the season. They're really beat up in the secondary right now and teams are starting to take advantage of that. Don't let last week's OT loss against the Falcons fool you. Atlanta QB matt Ryan had a bad day throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble or this would have been as decisive win ATL. The jets are rested and get start DL Sheldon Richardson back to add to an already good defense.
