Oh man, not that this game needs any more drama, but Brett Favre coming back to Green Bay is a huge storyline. He leads the 6-1 Vikings into Green Bay to play the 4-2 Packers and a team he guided to 2 Super Bowls and 1 Super Bowl win. The Packers have won 3 of their last 4 games, but all of those wins came over teams that have a combined 2 wins. Their last loss was on October 5th when they lost to the Vikings 30-23 in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The Vikings suffered their first loss of the season in their last game and turnovers killed them. Will Favre be booed or cheered in his return to Green Bay? Can the Packers challenge the Vikings in the NFC North? Both questions will be answered in this game.
Last week the Packers beat the Browns 31-3 while the Vikings 27-17.

The Vikings are led by QB Brett Favre (1,681 yds 12 TD 3 INT) and his main targets are Sidney Rice (34 rec 545 yds 2 TD) and rookie Percy Harvin (23 rec 285 yds 2 TD). The Vikings' rushing attack is led by the best young RB in the game in Adrian Peterson (687 yds 8 TD). The Packers are led by QB Aaron Rodgers (1,702 yds 11 TD 2 INT) and his main targets are Donald Driver (27 rec 479 yds 3 TD) and Greg Jenning (22 rec 356 yds 1 TD). The Packers' rushing attack is led by Ryan Grant 495 yds 3 TD).
In their loss to the Steelers the Vikings has 2 turnovers returned for TD's and both times they were deep in Pittsburgh territory. Thy have to hold onto the ball in this game, especially when they are in scoring position. The Vikings have the 7th ranked offense and they can run the ball with Adrian Peterson, who ranks 2nd in the league in rushing yards, and air it out with Favre. The Packers' D ranks 2nd in the NFL and their secondary has been stellar only giving up an average of 174 passing yards per game. Peterson has to have a good game to open up some passing lanes for Favre. The Packers do have 11 INT's this season but they only have 12 sacks.
Green Bay has the 12th ranked offense led by Aaron Rodgers who ranks 2nd this season in terms of QB rating. The big key for the Packers may be in their offensive line, as they have given up the 2nd most sacks in the NFL this season (25). Protective Rodgers is key, as he will find his targets if he is given time in the pocket. That is a tall task, as the Vikings' D has 24 sacks, which leads the league, Overall the Vikings' defense ranks 23rd and while they are decent at stopping the run they have had big problems defending the pass giving up an average of 234.7 passing yards per game.
The Packers can pull within a half game of the Vikings in the NFC North with a win in this game. Their offensive line has struggled big time and if they continue to do so the Vikings will probably win this game. However, with the weak secondary of the Vikings if Rodgers can stay upright he gives the Packers a great chance to win.
