This is the season opener for both teams and in the preseason the Eagles were 3-1 and at 3-1 ATS and the Falcons were 2-2 and at 2-2 ATS.
In their preseason finale the Falcons beat the Baltimore Ravens 20-19, but failed to cover the spread as a 2.5-point favorite.
In their last preseason game the Eagles lost to the New York Jets 24-18 and did not cover the spread as a 3-point favorite.
The last time these 2 teams met was in the 2012 season at Philadelphia when the Falcons beat the Eagles 30-17 and Atlanta covered the spread.
Last season the Eagles ranked 5th in total offense and 28th in total defense and the Falcons ranked 8th in total offense and 32nd in total defense.
Philadelphia is 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 games in Week 1.
The Eagles are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 games in September.

Eagles vs. Cowboys
Falcons @ Giants
The Eagles lit it up in preseason, playing fast and with three deep QB rotation of experienced starters. When you have 2nd to 4th string in for the majority of the games that makes for some easy pickings for a QB that has started in this league. That's not saying that we don't think that the Eagles will be in the upper echelon in scoring by the end of the season. With Kelly's aggressive play calling and a top-5 offensive line and the number of offensive plays barring a few key injuries they're destined to be there. That said they on paper they don't have much at the receiver position with in our opinion their starters would have a tough time cracking the number no. 3 spot on many times. That gets us to the total line of 55. It is just too high. The Eagles defense is better than a lot of bettors think and we think that with a new QB and a new backfield it will take time for this unit to gel. Let's call it a 24-20 game.
