Oregon Ducks at Arizona Wildcats Preview and Pick

Opening Line: Ducks -5 / Wildcats +5 O/U TBA
8 PM EST Saturday November 21, 2009 on ABC

by Marasoft.com Staff

On Saturday night in the desert the Arizona Wildcats host the 11th ranked Oregon Ducks. The Ducks are on course to play in the Rose Bowl against Ohio State, but they have to win their last 2 games. That will not be easy, as the Wildcats are a legit team and next week they have a tougher test in facing the 19th ranked Oregon State Beavers. The Wildcats fell out of the top 25 with their recent loss, but they are still bowl eligible and they can improve the bowl they play in if they can score an upset in this game. They can even play in a very good bowl game if they win this game and then in their last game against a struggling USC squad.

Last week Oregon beat Arizona State 44-21 while Arizona lost a tough game 24-16 to California.

The Wildcats are led by QB Nick Foles (1,736 yds 13 TD 6 INT) and his main targets are Terrell Turner (42 rec 402 yds 4 TD) and David Roberts (33 rec 352 yds 1 TD). The Wildcats' rushing attack is led by the RB duo of Nic Grigsby (535 yds 5 TD) and Keola Antolin (394 yds 3 TD). The Ducks are led by QB Jeremiah Masoli (1,581 yds 11 TD 5 INT) and his main targets are TE Ed Dickson (37 rec 488 yds 5 TD) and WR Jeff Maehl (34 rec 434 yds 3 TD). The Ducks' rushing attack is led by solid freshman RB LaMichael James (1,193 yds 11 TD).

The Ducks' offense is all about the run, as their rushing offense is ranked 6th in the nation averaging 237 yards per game. James and 2nd leading rusher QB Masoli are a tough duo to stop on the ground and each is averaging over 6 yards per carry. They have to run the ball well to score, as the Ducks' passing offense only ranks 100th in the nation. The Wildcats have a legit rushing defense, as they rank 20th in the nation. They will have to keep the Ducks from having a big game on the ground and if they can do that they have a great chance to win this game.

Arizona has a solid offense, as they rank 24th in the nation and they are well balanced, as they can move the chains on the ground and in the air. Foles has to have a good game under center and not turn the ball over. The Ducks have the nation's 22nd ranked defense and they have to stop the run and have solid coverage. The Ducks have a solid front line D and they rank 20th in the nation with 27 sacks. However, getting to Foles will be a tough task since the Wildcats have a stellar offensive line that has only given up 7 sacks in 9 games, which ranks 6th in the nation.

The Ducks are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games and the Wildcats are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games.

This game is important for both teams and the team that can execute their strength on offense and play some defense will win this game. The Wildcats are undefeated at home this season.

The Marasoft Pick: Arizona Wildcats +5
