FUTURE ODDS - NFC CHAMPION

Here are the future betting odds to win the NFC Conference Championship.

Green Bay Packers +350

The Packers are the defending champs and teams will be gunning or them this season and they play a killer schedule. However, the good news is they may be better this season with a healthy RB in Ryan Grant and an emerging solid RB in James Starks. The defense is great against the pass, but the run defense needs to improve, as they ranked 18th in the league against the run and will have to find out a way to replace DE Cullen Jenkins, who signed with the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles +375

Anything less than a Super Bowl appearance may be a disappointment for the Eagles, who brought in QB Vince Young, RB Ronnie Brown, WR Steve Smith, DL’s Cullen Jenkins and Jason Babin, and stud CB Nnamdi Asomugha. Michael Vick has to prove last season was no flash in the pan and while he has RB LeSean McCoy and WR’s DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin he has to stay healthy and on the field for the Eagles to win the NFC this season.

Atlanta Falcons +700

The big issue for the Falcons coming into the season is their defense, which ranked a respectable 10th against the run, but only 22nd against the pass and was picked apart in the playoffs. They brought in DE Ray Edwards, but made no moves to improve the sketchy secondary. Still, the Falcons mortgaged their next few drafts to move up to take WR Julio Jones. If he can mesh with an offense that features QB Matt Ryan, RB Michael Turner, WR Roddy White, and TE Tony Gonzalez the issues on D will not be as major since their offense may light up the scoreboard every weekend.

New Orleans Saints +750

Last season Drew Brees had to carry the offense since the rushing game was decimated by injuries. They took RB Mark Ingram in the first round, signed free agent Darren Sproles, re-signed Pierre Thomas, and let Reggie Bush go to the Dolphins. If New Orleans can run the ball well and Brees keeps playing at a high level the Saints have a good chance to get back to the Super Bowl. On D the Saints ranked 4th against the pass and 16th against the run and the addiction of DL’s Aubrayo Franklin and Shaun Rogers should help them against the run this season. The new RB’s and the improved run defense is why I think the Saints are a good betting value at +750.

Dallas Cowboys +800

The Cowboys have decent odds, but all the pressure is on Tony Romo. He is seen as an elite QB, but he has only led the Cowboys to a grand total of one playoff win. The offensive line is better and Felix Jones is now the featured back, but it is all on Romo this season.

Giants +1000

The Giants have a solid passing game and a good rushing attack, but the defense is the issue. They lost starting CB Terrell Thomas for the season and first round pick CB Prince Amukamara until mid-October. New York did rank 9th defending the pass last season, but they gave up a lot of big plays down the field and with their injured secondary players the pass D will be a big concern this season.
