NFC North Betting Preview

Chicago Bears - 1-3: One of the safer choices to win a division, the Bears have had a tumultuous offseason. OLB Lance Briggs could be a holdout, the team dragged its feet in re-signing HC Lovie Smith and some players have publicly criticized QB Rex Grossman. Still, the Bears have enough to win the division but don't expect another six-game cushion. The defense is still strong and the offense should be able to withstand the loss of RB Thomas Jones, as RB Cedric Benson gets his chance to be the No.1 back. Don't discount the ability of RB Adrian Peterson (no, not that Peterson) either. Defensively, the Bears lost some role players but will have FS Mike Brown and DT Tommie Harris, two former All Pros, back from injury. Chicago has a tougher schedule than last season but just have much more talent than any other team in the division not to win.

Green Bay Packers - 4-1: The Packers won their last four games last season but did little to improve their offense in the offseason. This could be QB Brett Favre's last season and he wanted more weapons (i.e. WR Randy Moss) at his disposal. The defense ranked 12th last season and could be better this year with rookies DT Justin Harrell and S Aaron Rouse. The Pack has a chance but need a lot of things to break their way.

Minnesota Vikings - 5-1: The Vikings led the league in run defense last season but their offense was terrible. While the Vikes made some nice moves in FA and the draft (yes, that RB Adrian Peterson) they still have questions at QB and in their back seven on defense. QB Tarvaris Jackson and WR Troy Williamson have to really grow up fast for this offense to threaten defenses. They're close to Green Bay but still to far to catch the Bears.

Detroit Lions - 6-1: These odds are very generous to a team that ranked 28th in defense last year and traded away their best CB and pass rusher. The offense could be very dangerous with new RBs Tatum Bell and T.J. Duckett and rookie WR Calvin Johnson. The O-line was upgraded as well. It's the defense that will sink this team and we don't consider them a threat to challenge for the division crown but they should be better than last year.
