Missouri Tigers vs. Ole Miss Rebels Betting Pick
Opening Line: Missouri -3
Time: 7:45 PM EST Saturday November 23, 2013 on ESPN / WatchESPN
Missouri is at 5-1 and all alone atop the SEC East and if they win their last 2 games they will play in the conference title game. However, that is easier said than done, as they have to beat a ranked Ole Miss team this weekend and 12th ranked Texas A&M in their season finale.
Ole Miss has won 4 straight games after their 3 game losing streak and while they are out of the BCS bowl picture they can play in a great bowl game if they can win their last 2 games. Their 3 losses on the season have come to 2 top 10 teams in Alabama and Auburn and Texas A&M.
Mizzou has some good news heading into this game, as senior captain QB James Franklin is back after missing 4 games with a shoulder injury.
Ole Miss snapped their 3-game skid with a home win over a ranked LSU team.
In their last games Ole Miss beat Troy 51-21 and Missouri beat Kentucky 48-17.
Missouri is 8-1-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 6-1-1 and Ole Miss is 6-4 ATS with an Over/Under record of 6-4.
Franklin has passed for 1,577 yards with 14 TD this season and has a good WR corps, but will he be rusty? That is the big question. Ole Miss stuffed the run last week facing Troy, but their 47th ranked pass defense gave up 326 yards in the air. Their pass D has to play well since the Rebels do not have a good pass rush with only 14 sacks in 10 games.
With Franklin getting back in action the Tigers may lean on the run more and they have the weapons to do that. Henry Josey (760 yards 10 TD) is coming off a 113-yard rushing performance and he and Russell Hansbrough (544 yards 4 TD) are each averaging over 6 yards per carry. Ole Miss played great run D last week in the easy win over Troy and overall their run defense ranks 46th in the nation.
Ole Miss has a balanced offense led by QB Bo Wallace, who has only been picked off 2 times in the Rebels' 4-game winning streak. He has the weapons on the outside, but will he have time to find them? Missouri has the nation's 3rd best pass rush and that unit must get to Wallace or he may torch a Tigers' pass defense that only ranks 112th in the nation.
In their lone loss on the season to South Carolina Missouri gave up 423 passing yards.
The Mizzou pass D has been struggling, but their run defense has not ranking 14th in the nation. Rebels' RB's Jeff Scott and I'Tavius Mathers have combined to rush for 917 yards and 4 TD.Betting Trends
