The Jaguars come into this game after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-29 last week in the first round of the playoffs. The Patriots had a bye last week and in their season finale beat the New York Giants 38-35. Even though there is a 13-point spread many believe that the Jaguars have the best chance of anyone to beat the undefeated Patriots. They will have to play a perfect game, especially on defense, to have any chance to knock off the Pats. QB David Garrard, who against the Steelers was 9/21 for 140 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT, leads the Jaguars. In that game the Jaguars rushed for 135 yards averaging 4.7 yards per rush. On defense the Jaguars held the Steelers to only 43 yards rushing (1.7 yards per rush) but gave up 297 yards passing with 2 TD and 2 INT. QB Tom Brady, who against the Giants was 32/42 for 346 with 2 TD, leads the Patriots. In that game the Pats rushed for 44 yards averaging 1.7 yards per rush. On defense the Patriots held the Giants to only 79 rushing yards (4.2 yards per rush) but gave up 237 yards with 4 TD and 1 INT.

The regular season is now over and the Patriots need to win only 3 more games to complete only the 2nd undefeated season ever. The Jags will have to find some way to contain Brady because they do not have enough offensive weapons to keep up with the Pats if the game becomes a shootout. The Jags are confident heading into this game but the Patriots are too strong on both sides of the ball to lose. The Pats will win this game by, at least, a touchdown but the Jags will cover the spread.
