New York Giants at Philadelphia Odds
Opening Line: Eagles -2 O/U 44
Time: 1 PM EST Sunday November 1, 2009 on FOX
by Marasoft.com Staff
In a big NFC game on Sunday afternoon the Philadelphia Eagles host the 1st place New York Giants. Even though the Giants are in 1st place they are not playing like it lately, as they have lost their last 2 games. The Eagles can pull into a tie for 1st place in the division with a win in this game and if the Cowboys, who host the weak Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, can win it will be a log jam atop the division, as New York, Philly, and Dallas will all be atop the division. A couple of weeks back the G-Men had the leagues' top-ranked defense, but in their last 2 games they have given up a total of 72 points.
Last week the Giants were beat by the Arizona Cardinals 24-17 while the Eagles beat the Washington Redskins 27-17.

The Giants are led by QB Eli Manning (1,633 yds 12 TD 6 INT) and his main targets are Steve Smith (45 rec 594 yds 4 TD) and Mario Manningham (28 rec 439 yds 4 TD). The Giants rushing attack is led by the RB duo of Brandon Jacobs (464 yds 2 TD) and Ahmad Bradshaw (455 yds 3 TD), who is injured but should play in this game. The Eagles are led by QB Donovan McNabb (768 yds 6 TD 1 INT) and his main targets are WR DeSean Jackson (21 rec 423 yds 3 TD) and TE Brent Celek (33 rec 386 yds 2 TD). The Eagles rushing attack is led by the duo of rookie LeSean McCoy (212 yds 1 TD) and Brian Westbrook (197 yds 1 TD).
The Giants' offense ranks 2nd in the league and they are very well balanced with a solid rushing and passing attack. Their offensive line is solid, as they have only given up 8 sacks this season. The Eagles' D ranks 4th in the league and they are solid at defending the pass and the run. They have to get to Manning and not give him time to find his targets. RB Brandon Jacobs may get more carries in this game since Ahmad Bradshaw is banged up and even though he has solid yardage he is only averaging 3.9 yards per carry.
The Eagles have the league's 18th ranked offense and even though the Giants still rank 6th on defense they have struggled, especially their secondary, in their last 2 games. Both Drew Brees and Kurt Warner have torched the Giants' secondary in the Giants last 2 games and if they allow McNabb to have a big game they may be headed to their 3rd straight loss. The Giants have 16 sacks this season and the Eagles have allowed 15 sacks so the offensive line has to protect McNabb, as he is not as nimble as he used to be. The Eagles have to be able to run the ball well to take pressure off McNabb, but they are only averaging just over 100 rushing yards per game.
The Giants have to get back to playing good defensive football, as they have shown they are not going to win if the game is a shootout. The Eagles have to control the clock by running the ball and contain the Giants' rushing offense. If the Giants can win they can hold onto 1st place in the NFC East.
