Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins Spread Pick
Opening Line: Bengals -3
Cincinnati won for the fourth-straight time last Sunday, blowing out the Jets 49-9. Miami lost their fourth-straight game, allowing 24 unanswered points in a 27-17 loss to New England last week.
The Bengals are rolling on offense and a large chunk of the credit goes to QB Andy Dalton. He is playing the best football of his career right now and has three-straight 300+yard games. He also threw a career-high five TD passes last week. The Dolphins defense has given up five-straight games of 20+ points and they have a lot of weapons to account for here. WRs A.J. Green and Marvin Jones both went over 100 yards receiving last week and TEs rookie Tyler Eifert and Jermaine Gresham have combined for 54-581-2. RB Giovani Bernard leads all rookies in total offense. Cincinnati still doesn't run the ball very well but they stick with it so defenses can't pin their ears back and go after Dalton. Miami's run defense has been good this season but they have still allowed seven rushing TDs.
Miami is having trouble on offense and a lot of that is in their failure to protect QB Ryan Tannehill. He has been sacked 32 times in only seven games and that is stalling a lot of drives. While the Bengals rank only 11th in sacks, they can really make things uncomfortable for opposing QBs. New LT Bryant McKinnie was added via trade and immediately became a starter, showing the desperation of the coaching staff. During this losing streak, Tannehill has made more mistakes and has thrown nine interceptions and lost five fumbles during the season. RB Lamar Miller had a good game last week but Cincinnati allows less than 100 yards rushing per game. WR Mike Wallace was a big-ticket offseason addition but has only 398 yards receiving and one score. The Bengals returned two picks for TDs last week.
ATS Game Pick
Miami won 17-13 in Cincinnati last season because they dominated in the trenches. Don't look for a repeat of that in this game however. The Bengals are playing with a swagger right now and if Dalton continues his hot play, they can reach the Super Bowl, and they know it. Look for Cincy's defense to dominate up front and force Tannehill into predictable mistakes. The Bengals are very good at sustaining drives and we feel they can wear down a good defense like Miami's.
