ODDS TO WIN THE 2011 HEISMAN TROPHY

QB Andrew Luck Odds: +250

Luck was stellar in 2010 where he completed 70% of his passes, but can he repeat on that since Stanford lost their top 3 wide receivers? On top of that the Cardinal have a new head coach and teams will be gearing their defenses to stop Luck this season. Still, Luck is poised to have another big season and he is the likely #1 pick in the next NFL draft.

QB Denard Robinson Odds: +500

Michigan QB Robinson is a great duel-threat QB that put up sick numbers last season passing for over 2,300 yards and rushing for over 1,600, which ranked 2nd in the nation. One big thing that Robinson has going for him this season is the fact that he is on national TV several times and he will have to put up HUGE numbers again since the Michigan defense is suspect.

RB Marcus Lattimore Odds: +500

South Carolina RB Lattimore rushed for almost 1,200 yards last season with 17 TD and he averaged a solid 4.8 yards per carry. Heisman voters may give him an edge if he has a big season since the SEC is loaded with so many good teams that have great defenses. He will be the big gun for the Gamecocks’ offense and he will have to run the ball well in South Carolina’s 5 games against teams ranked in the preseason top 25.

QB Landry Jones Odds: +500

Jones looks to become the 2nd Sooners’ QB to win the Heisman in the last 3 years after Sam Bradford won the coveted award in 2009. Last season Jones threw for more than 4,700 yards with 38 TD and only 12 INT. He has a good WR corps and a solid offensive line and will likely put up huge numbers again.

RB LaMichael James Odds: 600

James came in 2nd in last season’s Heisman voting when he led the nation with 1,731 yards and had 21 TD and averaged 6 yards per carry. One big thing James has going for him is that he will be facing some suspect defenses in the Pac 12 this season, but he may have to get off to a good start facing LSU’s stellar run D in the first game of the season.

WR Justin Blackmon Odds: +1000

Blackmon looks to become the first WR to win the Heisman since Desmond Howard won the award back in 1991. He had 111 catches for 1,782 yards with 20 TD last season and he even missed 1 game in putting up those stellar numbers. Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden, who is at +2000 to win the Heisman, is back for the Cowboys but Blackmon will be double teamed a lot this season and will have to put up insane numbers to win the Heisman since voters look more closely at the QB and RB position.
