Odds To Win The Big East Championship

The Big East gets an automatic BCS Bowl bid even though experts believe they are not seen as one of the toughest conferences in the nation. However, the Big East has won 4 of their 5 BCS games so maybe the experts are wrong. West Virginia, South Florida, and Pittsburgh have the best odds to win the Big East this season, but the conference is up for grabs.

West Virginia Mountaineers +250
Pat White is off to the NFL and Jarrett Brown is now the starting QB of the Mountaineers. RB Noel Devine will lead the offense, but the offensive line is a concern. The strength of the Mountaineers will be their defense, which returns more then half the starters. West Virginia plays a killer schedule, as in their 2nd game they play a tough East Carolina team and their last 5 games in the conference are brutal facing South Florida, Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers.

South Florida Bulls +250
The Bulls 4-year starting QB Matt Grothe is a great player that can pick up yards through the air and with his legs, but he needs help. RB Mike Ford needs to live up to his hype, as he has been a disappointment for the Bulls so far. Dontavia Bogan, A.J. Love and Carlton Mitchell nave the potential to be the best WR corps in the nation. The offensive live is a concern, as they will feature 4 new starters. The Bulls' defense is decent and while they have a slid secondary there are several new players up front.

Pittsburgh Panthers +250
The Panthers may have the best offensive line and the best secondary in the nation, but their QB situation is not settled between Bill Stull and Pat Bostick and finding a replacement for LeSean McCoy will not be easy. Jonathan Baldwin and Oderick Turner are two stud WR's and if the panthers can get some sold QB play their offense should be pretty good. The front line D is mediocre, at best, and some new players have to step up.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights +500
Much like Pitt. Rutgers has their QB situation unresolved. They also have several WR's, who have to fill the shoes of NFL departed Kenny Britt and senior Tim Brown may be the main man on offense, whoever is throwing him the ball. The Strength of the Scarlet Knights will be their defense, as they are solid up front and in their secondary.

Cincinnati Bearcats +800
The Bearcats will be led by returning starter Tony Pike and his main target will be playmaker WR Mardy Gilyard. RB Isaiah Pead averaged 6.5 yards per carry last season and he may revive a Bearcats rushing attack that has been weak for the last few years. The D is a major concern, as many of the starters began their college careers playing offense. FS Aaron Webster is the only starter returning on defense.

Connecticut Huskies +800
The Huskies will be going to a pro style offense this season and they may struggle big time with a new QB and trying to replace 1st round NFL draft pick RB Donald Brown. The Huskies' defense will be their strength especially up front, as the LB corps is probably the best in the conference. The Huskies will be tough to score on, but can they score themselves?

The other teams in the Big East and their odds to win the conference are Louisville (+1500) and Syracuse (+5000).
