Odds To Win The Big 10 Championship

The Big 10 has not played well in bowls in recent years, but that may change this year, as 10 of the 11 teams in the conference will return at least half of their starters. Ohio State and Penn State are the teams to beat in the Big 10, but there are a handful of other teams that have a chance to win the conference title.

Here are the teams with the best odds to win the Big 10 conference this season.

Ohio State Buckeyes +150
QB Terrelle Pryor will be the full time starter this season and has to play well. They will miss RB Chris Wells, but the running game will still be their strength with Dan Herron as the main man, but Brandon Saine and highly touted freshman Jaamal Berry should both get some carries. Brian and Brian Hartline are both off to the NFL and speedy WR DeVier Posey is posed to have a big year. The offensive line should be solid again and the Buckeyes' D will be their strength once again. Their 2nd game against USC should be a great test and their big game in the conference as at Penn State in their 3rd to last game of the season.

Penn State Nittany Lions +250
The Nittany Lions play a weak schedule this season, as their 2 biggest games are at home against Iowa and Ohio State. The offensive line lost 3 starters and the WR corps lost 3 starters as well. QB Daryll Clark is a legit running and passing QB, but their new WR's have to help him out. The front line D of the Nittany Lions should be awesome led by LB Navorro Bowman, but their secondary has to replace 4 starters. The winner of their home game against Ohio State may determine the winner if the Big 10.

Iowa Hawkeyes +550
Iowa has a lot of expectations this season with QB Richard Stanzi and an offensive line with 3 starters returning. However, finding a RB to replace Shonn Greene is a concern. Their defense returns 8 starters and they are strong up front. The Hawkeyes are solid, but they play, perhaps, the toughest schedule in the Big 10, as they play at Penn State and at Ohio State.

Michigan State Spartans +550
The defense of the Spartans really has to step it up this season, since both Javon Ringer and Brian Hoyer are gone. On top of that the right side of the offensive line will be a few new faces. The secondary of the Spartans is their strength and while the front line is solid their chemistry is a concern. The schedule is favorable for the Spartans, as they play Penn State and Iowa at home.

Illinois Fighting Illini +650
The Illini have one of the best offenses in the Big 10 led by QB Juice Williams. He has two solid weapons with WR's Jarred Fayson and Regus Benn. The rushing offense is a concern, as there are a couple of RB's that are vying for the starting job. The defense is ok and while the secondary is one of the best in the Big 10 there are major question marks on the line. The Illini may get off to a slow start, as in their first three games they play Missouri, at Ohio State, and Penn State.
