No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) vs. No. 14 Missouri Tigers (10-2)
Missouri is in the SEC title game for the 2nd straight season, but against top-ranked Alabama they are still big 14.5-point underdogs. Since the 2007 season Mizzou has won 5 division titles, but they have yet to win a conference crown. They have a talk task in this game facing Alabama, who are not the usual Tide team in terms of offense, which ranks 20th in points per game.
Missouri has a less than dynamic offense ranking 100th in the nation in passing yards per game and 67th in rushing yards per game. The Tigers win with their defense, which ranks 13th in the nation.
Missouri was 2-1 this season facing top 25 teams, but they did not face one team that was in the top 10.
Alabama will make it into the BCS playoffs with a win, but if they are upset that likely will not happen.
In their last games Alabama beat Auburn 55-44 and Missouri beat Arkansas 21-14.
Alabama is 4-8 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 5-6 and Missouri is 8-4 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 4-7-1.
This game in being held at a neutral site in Atlanta, Georgia.
Alabama came into last week's game against Auburn with the 2nd ranked defense, but now they rank 6th after giving up 44 points. They gave up 628 total yards in the game, but can Mizzou do the same? Maty Mauk has had a decent season under center for the Tigers and the Alabama secondary has to keep tabs on the main WR in Bud Sasser, who is coming of a big game against Arkansas with 127 receiving yards.
The 2 players that must play well in this game for Mizzou to pull off the upset is the RB duo of Russell Hansbrough and Marcus Murphy. They have combined for nearly 1,700 yards on the season and will face a Bama run D that ranks 2nd in the nation, but did give up 172 rushing yards facing Auburn. These 2 have to run the ball well to help keep the Tide offense on the sidelines.
QB Blake Simms, who has passed for nearly 3,000 yards this season, leads the Tide. WR Amari Cooper has broke many school records and has 1,573 yards, which is over 1200 more than the next leading WR, and 14 TD. The RB duo of T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry are each averaging over 5 yards per carry and combined for 199 rushing yards in the win over Auburn.
Missouri's D really has a tall task in this game and they rank 26th in the nation defending the run and 35th defending the pass.
Alabama is 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 neutral site games, and they have an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 games.
Missouri is 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall, 13-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, and they have an Under record of 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.
